About

In 2007, the first annual Walk for Aidan was put on by over 100 student volunteers. More then 600 students and community members came to the event. Over $18,000 was raised, more than tripling an initial goal of $5,000. The Walk for Aidan is a community-building event designed to raise awareness and funds for Muscular Dystrophy in an effort to help find a cure. The funds help the Lefflers pay for medical bills, a wheelchair and the eventual remodeling of their home to be completely wheelchair-accessible. Proceeds from the Walk for Aidan also benefit Charley’s Fund, the only 501(c)3 organization exclusively devoted to finding a cure for DMD within our lifetime.

In 2008, a rough goal of $25,000 was set for the Walk. 1,500 participants, 200 volunteers and four hours later, a goal was surpassed. Shattering the $25,000 goal and expectations, Sammamish High School became the number one fundraising school in the State of Washington, raising over $45,000 for the Aidan Leffler Trust Fund and Charley’s Fund.

In 2009 we continued our efforts, raising over $30,000. So far this year we have raised over $7,000 through donations and our Battle of the Bands. In total, we’ve raised over $100,000 so far to help Aidan and other kids like him.

We have only just begun… Here’s a photo of the 2010 directors after the Walk.
